Distemper In Dogs

Canine Distemper
Canine distemper is a contagious, incurable, often fatal, multi-systemic viral disease that affects the respiratory, gastrointestinal, and central nervous systems. It is caused by the canine distemper virus (CDV - a paramyxovirus similar to that which causes human measles.) The canine distemper virus is transmitted through the air, when infected animals cough, as well through bodily fluids such as urine. Puppies/dogs diagnosed with or suspected of having canine distemper should be quarantined immediately. While dogs of any age can be affected by CDV, most are puppies, between 3-6 months old. The key to preventing CDV is early vaccination, so talk to your ve 00004000 terinarian when you take your puppy for his/her first check-up.
The distemper virus can affect many systems of the body and common signs include:
- nasal and eye discharge;
- coughing;
- diarrhea/vomiting;
- fever that may come and go;
- seizures

were is the cheapest place to get dog distemper shot and rabies shots for dogs in michigan?
i looked at Capital Area Humane Society but i dont think you can do just the shots there you have to get him neutered too but i dont have that kind of money. does any one have any suggestions?
No you can not contract that disese it is species specific and can only be transmited dog to dog, but if your dog was attacked i would seek vet care asap. other wise i would not be concerned that you could get destemper.
Are dogs that have the distemper vaccination in danger if they’re around a dog who has distemper?
One of my dogs is showing early signs of distemper, but I also have 4 other dogs, but they have their distemper vaccination. This is a new dog that has distemper. Are my other dogs in danger of getting it too even though they have their vaccination against distemper?

What causes distemper in dogs?
My dog is acting weird her eyes are red and she is not as active as usual, and i just thinking of things that can be wong with her.
If you know plz tell me
that would all depend on what area you live in. each vet has different pricing, vets will not administer vaccines without doing an examination to make sure your pet is healthy enough to receive them and you will be charged an office fee. the humane society WILL administer vaccinations alone, you do not need to have your pet neutered in order for them do give vaccines. if your dog has never received a DPP before, or it has been expired for more than a year then the vet is going to break them up into a series of boosters (usually a series of 3-4 boosters separated by about 3 weeks each) so you will need to go back a few times.
typically most vet clinics charge between $15-25 per vaccine, between $20-30 examination fee and $15-35 office fee.
check in your area to see if there are any walk-in shot clinics. i know petco has these from time to time and the vaccines are discounted to just a few dollars with no office fee or examination fee. some vets also have walk-in days strictly for vaccines only.
If your dogs have already been in contact with the new dog, they should get distemper booster shots ASAP.
Also, if you have not done so already, please get the new dog to the vet. Distemper is very dangerous, but if caught early enough, it can be treated.
Distemper is also a highly contagious disease that can be spread through your skin, clothes, shoes, etc. and can live on hard surfaces for up to a year. Please be very careful not to spread it to others.
Good luck.
instead of thinking of things that can be wrong get her to the vet and find out for sure and maybe if you ask the nice vet in a nice way he will tell you the answer to your question.
